ABOUT THE THERAPIST
My name is Haley, I am the owner, designer and Spa Treatment Specialist of Crinum Spa Retreat. I am also the ONLY therapist here, so if you book in , it will be with me.
I have been a massage therapist for almost 20 years now. I was lucky enough to win a full scholarship to the Australia College of Natural Medicine, where I studied for 4 years and received a Cert IV in Massage, a Diploma in Remedial Massage and a Degree in Musculoskeletal Therapy .

After that I worked in a few Brisbane based clinics and Day Spas, and then I jumped on a large jet plane and flew to Dublin, Ireland where I was lucky enough to get a roll as a massage therapist at a busy clinic right in the heart of Temple Bar. Now that was a fun place to work.

As the travel bug had bitten me hard I then got a job of a life time at the Aqua Day Spa aboard the Celebrity Solstice Cruise ship for nine months while it sailed the Mediterranean and then the Caribbean. We worked hard, working 6 days a week, 12 to 14 hours a day... but that one day off a week was paradise!

When I got back to Australia, I still wasn't ready to settle down into the real world, so I got a job at the breath taking Alpine Spa at Cradle Mountain Lodge in Tasmania. I spent 6 months watching the snow fall, paddy melons bounce about and wombats wondering right from my glass walled treatment room.

Then I was ready to warm up and moved to Hamilton Island and worked at both Spa Qualia and Spa Wumurdaylin. I obviously loved it as I stayed for 3 years, and even met my husband there.
Since then I have returned to the main land and after a few years in Sydney, we have now comfortably based ourselves in North Brisbane in Narangba with our beautiful family of five. I opened my first business called Kids Asleep, Parents Retreat which is a mobile Massage business that goes to parents homes at 8pm when their children are in bed, and then I would massage both parents.

While still working 5-6 nights a week, I started on the design and build of Crinum Spa Retreat. I have poured my blood, sweat and tears into this place. I have painted every surface myself, and spent agonising days worrying about the smallest details (just ask my builder about the door stop fiasco).
​

CRINUM SPA RETREAT
Crinum (pronouced Cry-Nuhm), is a very special word to me, as I grow up in Central QLD on a cattle property which was called Crinum, and it was named after a lily that is native to the area.
What was particularly important and special about this lily was that is only showed up after rain. And after rain was always the best time when on a cattle property. We suffered though many droughts (and still do, as my family is still there) and when we finally got a taste of that sweet rain it was almost like the land was celebrating with us, with these pretty white lilies decorating the paddocks.

So it felt right to name my day spa Crinum. Like the lily, you too can celebrate the good things in life, or when in a hard place... just knowing the lilies were still there, just laying dormant until the rain came again... because it always does, and that is extremely comforting.
